A Tarot Reading for the Collective

As we settle into a long weekend and our inboxes start to flood with Black Friday deals, I thought it might be nice to offer a quick tarot pull for the collective. The holidays have a way of making us nostalgic and restless, and I was reflecting on this dynamic as I pulled out my cards and asked simply, “May we have a message from Spirit?”

So, here it is:

Three tarot cards, including Judgement, the 10 of Cups, and the 2 of Wands, all depicting a message from spirit that is interpreted by Cat Wilson

Over-Arching Energy: Judgement

Forgiveness is one of the hardest spiritual tasks because we have to grapple with a sense of injustice. The need to forgive implies that there is a lack of closure. And yet by the time Judgement appears in the tarot, a higher perspective is being understood. The weight of resentment, the burden of anger, the suffocation of grief — it shape shifts here. It becomes clarity, appreciation, perspective, and individuation. A new tune reaches us as Archangel Gabriel plays his trumpet and raises us from the dead. This holiday season, a special kind of closure is available, one that can only be understood between you and the Divine.

Challenge or Obstacle: 10 of Cups

LOL at the challenge card representing family. Even bigger than that, though, this card symbolizes the dream — the beautiful, idealized vision we carry in our hearts. As the obstacle, it points to the ways we trap ourselves by fantasizing about what could have been or idolizing the past without honest reconciliation. There is tender, profound wisdom in the things that didn’t go according to plan. We can’t access this perspective if we’re only mourning the fantasy. That’s not to say we can’t carry grief or disillusionment, but we have to be willing to see all the colors if we hope to find the rainbow.

Message from Your Higher Self: 2 of Wands

You’ll notice that in each of the other two cards — Judgment and the 10 of Cups — family appears. But the message from your Higher Self is about individuality, about going your own way. The figure in the 2 of Wands holds a globe and steadies their gaze on an open horizon. Your vision for family, love, belonging — it’s supposed to be different than what you inherited. A copy/paste approach would simply not do your soul justice.

The card reminds us that, while we can always have deep love for where we come from, we are each here to do our own soul growth. Families (biological and chosen) are designed to bring us exactly that: growth, challenge, and a clearer understanding of ourselves. If we are to mimic their traditions and personalities and values, it ought to be from a space of love and honoring, rather than chasing acceptance and understanding.

The 2 of Wands gives us permission to step beyond the emotions of the past and into a vision for the future. In walking your own path, you find your way back to them — transformed, resurrected, guided by the melodies of Gabriel’s trumpet.

Wishing you peace, clarity, and a little breathing room this season.

In Magic,
Cat
