July Astrology: You May Have Ordered Mild But It’ll Be Served Spicy

July delivers a noticeable shift in energy as we enter retrograde season. When planets appear to move backward in the sky (a phenomenon unique to our vantage point on Earth), we’re invited to do the same: revisit, recalibrate, and eventually, regenerate.

This month, four celestial bodies station retrograde, urging us to slow down and reflect on what we may have overlooked. While retrogrades often spark fear or hesitation, they can be powerful tools when approached intentionally.

As you’ll see in the key dates below, the retrogrades this month begin in fire signs, and you might feel a noticeable shift in energy and stamina by the end of July. Retrogrades naturally slow us down, but fire doesn’t thrive in stillness. We may be coming off a stretch of high-energy momentum, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to collapse on the couch and wait it out. Instead, think of this as a shift in how we use our energy: less sprinting, more strength training. We’re building endurance so we don’t burn out.

One major planetary shift propels us forward: Uranus enters Gemini for the first time since 1941 (I’ll have another newsletter out discussing the historical themes associated with this transit soon). Known for disruption, innovation, and awakening, Uranus steps into curious, quick-witted Gemini. We’re now entering a cycle of profound technological, intellectual, and social change. With Gemini ruling travel, communication, and learning, expect these areas to feel especially activated as Uranus adjusts to its new terrain.

July offers a meaningful opportunity to realign with intention. As always, if you’d like to understand how these energies affect your chart, consider joining the Soul Support membership or book a 1:1 consultation.

July Astrology: Key Dates

7/4: Venus conjunct Uranus at 29° Taurus; Neptune stations retrograde at 2°10’ Aries. Venus meets Uranus at the very final degree of Taurus, sending one last electric pulse through what we value. Money and finances, as well as relationships, could feel volatile. Venus moves into Gemini the same day, and Neptune stations retrograde in Aries. This makes for a very interesting Solar Return chart for the United States; literal and figurative sparks will fly.

7/7: Uranus enters Gemini. Big deal alert! Outer planet Uranus will change signs for the next four months and offer an important preview of what will be more pronounced in 2026 and beyond. Expect breakthroughs and possible breakdowns related to communication, education, technology, and transportation. Recently I read that peak solar flare activity expected in July could result in temporary power grid failures. This is a great example of Uranus in Gemini’s energy.

7/10: Full Moon in Capricorn at 18°50'. A culmination point related to your ambitions, responsibilities, and boundaries. Ruled by Saturn, which is preparing to station retrograde on the 13th, we may be starting to sense limitations. This could feel at-odds with our intentions and energy levels. Follow-through on what’s most critical and pressing before the retrograde takes effect.

7/13: Saturn stations retrograde at 1°56’ Aries. Hold on, Partner. Some part of the plan needs re-working. This is an excellent time to do the things that secure a steady foundation — clean out closets, circle back on what’s been on the to-do list for months, acknowledge where you’ve taken on too much and can’t realistically sustain that kind of volume long-term.

7/18: Mercury stations retrograde at 15°34’ Leo. Mercury wants us to re-examine how we communicate our truth. Leo energy is bold, performative, and proud. Do our communications embody voice and personality? This could be an especially messy retrograde for travel and communication, as it’s the first with Uranus now in Gemini (Mercury is the planetary ruler of Gemini). Stay patient and double-check. The good news with Mercury Rx’s is they only last three weeks.

7/22: Sun enters Leo; Venus squares Mars + the South Node. The Sun steps into its home sign, Leo, but the fun-loving and jovial energy gets a late start this season. Have you ever felt like you had to pick a side between two friends fighting? Mars conjunct the South Node in Virgo has a bone to pick, and Venus in Gemini comes into a sharp square with the two. This is death by data, the kind of argument that relies on splitting hairs and technicalities. The North Node in Pisces says, “Making a point is missing the point.” We need soul, not logic on this day.

7/24: New Moon in Leo opposes Pluto Rx in Aquarius at 2°. Go easy on yourself and others with this one. There is a chance for powerful awareness and excavation of inner-truths. Where do you long to shine and does your community help or hinder those ambitions?

7/30: Chiron stations retrograde at 27°9’ Aries. Chiron is retrograde about five months out of the year, symbolic of the integration period required for healing and recovery. In Aries, this is helping us reclaim a sense of power and courage.
