Gemini Full Moon - November 2023
Say that again? Can you speak up? Stop yelling at me. Look at the time, gotta run.
On Monday, November 27th, the full moon will occur at 4°51’ of Gemini. It is exact at 4:16AM EST.
Gemini is the sign of curiosity, communication, siblings, one’s local neighborhood, data, and perspective. Represented by the twins, it reminds us there are always at least two sides to a story, at least two perspectives to an experience. The traditional ruler of Gemini is the planet Mercury, showcasing the inherit emphasis on communication that Gemini brings to the world. What we say, think, type, sing, and imply all fall under Gemini’s domain.
Because Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and the full moon is in this sign, the ruler of this lunation is Mercury. In the chart cast for the full moon, we see that Mercury is out of bounds and in its detriment sign of Sagittarius; this suggests that although we may be inclined to utilize Mercury for guidance through this transit, Mercury isn’t in its strongest position. Squaring Neptune in Pisces at 24°, communication is bound to feel unstructured and ambiguous at best. Mercury in Sagittarius can sometimes fall into absolutism in its thinking whereas Pisces leans into idealism. This can translate into deeper fracturing between people and groups, each committed to and insisting that their side is the Truth.
The sun, Mars, and asteroid Ceres are also tightly conjunct in Sagittarius (from 0-4°). This conjunction and the Gemini full moon square Saturn in Pisces at 0°. Saturn is our sense of duty and responsibility, and in Pisces, wants us to hold out hope while releasing victimhood, martyrdom, escapism, and dissociation. There’s something in this signature to me that says we have to be present in new ways. Mars and Ceres are both determined energies, and so we could feel a really strong (impulsive?) desire to break away from something that feels small or limiting. Do I stay and nurture something, or do I set it free?
There could be the internal tug-of-war that you feel through this lunation, and man-oh-man does Sagittarius crave its freedom. But those squares to Saturn in Pisces are prompts to pause. What are the physical and emotional responses that restlessness brings up within you? Understanding that beyond the surface-level solution is an important part of the Saturn in Pisces evolution.
Seek understanding, not just next steps.
